"Beauty Flows" captures the majestic glacial processes of Vatnajökull, Iceland’s largest glacier. The piece illustrates how snowfall accumulates over time, gradually compressing into dense, bubble-free ice under the weight of successive layers. This ancient ice, shaped by the forces of nature over millennia, eventually flows into the glacial lagoon, where it fractures and begins to melt, returning its water to the sea. The artwork highlights the eternal cycle of transformation, from solid ice to liquid, and the quiet power of nature’s passage through time.
Warming temperatures accelerate glacier melting, leading to faster ice loss and contributing to rising sea levels. This causes the collapse of ice shelves, speeds up glacier flow into the ocean, and disrupts local ecosystems and freshwater systems, threatening both environmental stability and human communities.
